Scenario

Remote working, #pandemic: people's activities are forcibly moving to remote locations, and new solutions must be found to cope with the new paradigm during the pandemic. Ergonomic: ergonomics affects the state of health of the worker, both physically and psychologically. Everyday objects should apply the affordance of the user. Isolation: visual or acoustic isolation helps to clarify the boundaries of the working state. It enables flexibility of work. Space: home is private, but not completely without noise. Clutter can spoil the mood, and it is important to create a tidy space.

Concept

The separé blocks the view and diffuses the light, so the desk feels calm.

A curved, transparent desk seen from a low angle, with a slim shelf above the worktop.

  • Note 02 The partition has an internal light source and acts as a light diffuser that, integrated into a translucent shade, distributes light throughout the workspace.
  • Note 03 The undercounter helps to organise the worktop.
The desk's light partition: a pleated translucent screen between two wooden rails.
A line drawing of the desk in an exploded view, showing the partition, its rails and the curved glass top.

Process

Ideation, variations of the idea, ergonomic measurements and a mechanical exploded view.
